Gauntlet on XBL

•August 17, 2008 • No Comments

I slept the good majority of the day, but I had plans to play Gauntlet with a few guys (Bomber37, Col Hartman & BootlegWarrior6) from 360 Voice on Sunday night. We were able to accomplish 2 out of 3 of our goals. We made it through levels 10 and levels 20, but we weren’t able to achieve 100,000 co-op points because we kept struggling with connection problems. Our last go at it was going very well, but we lost 2 of our 4 to disconnects leaving just 2 of us on one of the higher levels. We were doing OK, but the game just decided to end abruptly even though neither of us died. Oh well, we’ll give it another shot next weekend.

Wanted

•August 16, 2008 • No Comments

As I mentioned, not feeling well and catching up on some old posts that didn’t make the blog.

Wanted, is one of the coolest movies I have seen in a while. Definitely worth checking out. The plot basically follows a group of “super” assassins. If you like action and kick ass weapons, this is one you should see.

The Dark Knight

•August 15, 2008 • No Comments

I haven’t been feeling well the last couple of days, so I haven’t done very much, so I don’t have a whole lot to write about, so I’ll catch up on some things I didn’t post about in the past.

I enjoyed the Dark Knight and specifically Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker. I heard the word “amazing” thrown around a lot when describing this movie. I don’t think I’d go as far as saying that but I did thoroughly enjoy it and it is definitely something I could watch multiple times. Most people must feel the same way because it’s kicking some major ass financially in the box office numbers. It’s raked in some major $$.

RIP Joe :(

•August 14, 2008 • No Comments

Received sad news this morning from back east in New York. Friend of mine, Joe, had a heart attack and passed away. He lived very close to the fire department, probably under a minute by car and they did everything they could to revive him, but were unsuccessful.

Joe was a real cool dude, who would always do anything for you. Always had a smile on his face, always had a joke and was just a lot of fun to be around. We definitely had some crazy times with all of us getting way too drunk and doing stupid things, but they’re times I’ll never forget. Joe was very unselfish - he essentially gave up a good portion of his freedom to live at home and take care of his mother. Paying the bills, taking her to the doctor, etc…but that was Joe, just an all-around good guy.

I was terribly sad to hear that you passed away..you were way too young and way too good a person for it to be your time. I know wherever you are now you’ve got a drink in your hand and a smile on your face and you’re brightening up someone’s day. I’ll miss you man!

Here’s Joe’s obituary:

Joseph Di Gangi
DI GANGI - Joseph, age 49, on August 13, 2008 of North Babylon, NY. Beloved son of the late Mario and Antinetta. Loving brother of Frances Pfeifer (Thomas), Diane Di Gangi and Mario Di Gangi. Caring uncle of Michael, Janice and Christopher. Joseph was a longtime Automotive Operator for the Parks Department for the Town of Babylon.

Win NaiLSONS Games #13

•August 13, 2008 • No Comments

Win NaiLSONS Games #13 over at 360 Voice kicked off last night at midnight PST. Looks like we got 20 people for this one…not a bad turnout. I expect some heavy points to be put up, especially with Madden 09′ being so easy in the way of achievements. Unfortunately for me, I ordered the 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, which comes with NFL Head Coach 2009 and when I got it on Tuesday via UPS, both discs were loose in the packaging and scratched beyond playing condition. I am supposedly getting a new copy overnighted, so we’ll see if it shows up at some point today.

If you’re an XBox 360 gamer and you’re not part of 360 Voice, I would definitely suggest you head over there and check it out..it’s a great community, plus you’ll have the opportunity to participate in challenges like this one. Good luck to everyone this week.

Tuesday Night Gaming

•August 12, 2008 • No Comments

Finished off Battle for the Pacific last night, picking up the last 3 achievements I needed with the help of Bomber37, Angry Alex, & Stone Dracula. Some of it was quite interesting when you’re getting shot in the head a good 5-6 times and not dying - something just not right with that game, but it’s done and back to GameFly. Retail title # 53 completed.

I wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t sleep, so I knocked out the final 2 achievements I needed in WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 to finish that for retail title # 54 completed, hooray!

Otherwise it was a rather boring Tuesday…not feeling well and didn’t do much of anything.

Lung Center

•August 11, 2008 • 1 Comment

I was lucky enough to get an appointment at the Nevada Lung Center for next week to meet with some pulmonary specialists. The goal is to attempt to find out what is causing the lack of oxygen in my body (to my brain and to my heart.) Hopefully all tests will go well and doctors will be able to shed some information on my current situation.

It certainly would be nice to figure out what is wrong with me so I can get out of the house again…this last year has been absolute torture.

Win NaiLSONS Games on 360Voice

•August 10, 2008 • 1 Comment

Each week on 360 Voice, gamer NaiLSONS, hosts a challenge called “Win NaiLSONS Games!!!” where other gamers compete for 5 days and the highest increase in gamerscore is declared the winner. The prize, well, NaiLSONS games! Each week he gives away a game from his own collection, asking nothing in return other than to have his competitors watch his 360 Voice blog. It’s great gamers like this that make 360 Voice such a cool community to hang out in. The winner of each week also qualifies for the Challenge of Champions, to take place sometime in September. It should be quite an event.

UFC 87: Seek & Destroy

•August 9, 2008 • No Comments

Tonight was UFC 87: Seek & Destroy from Minnesota. Overall, it was a good card and had some good fights…I typically am not a big fan of bouts that go to decisions, but despite several of them tonight, they were all entertaining.

Brock Lesnar let Heath Herring do almost nothing for 15 minutes. Brock is just so damn big and strong and if he continues to learn more MMA, he’ll be an absolute beast. I liked Brock in the WWE, but I wasn’t too thrilled when he announced he was headed into MMA. I was even more disappointed when I heard the pay day he received in his loss against Frank Mir. However, he has the size, strength and wrestling ability to make something of himself. He was impressive tonight and with all sorts of outsiders flocking to MMA, I’d have to say I’d rather watch him take on some of the bigger names as opposed to watching Kimbo Slice take on his hand fed opponents.

Roger Huerta and Kenny Florian had the potential to be fight of the night, but it didn’t seem like Huerta was ever really in the match. Florian looked impressive during his unanimous decision win. One would think he’d be next in line to fight BJ Penn, but it looks like Penn has his sights set on moving weight classes to fight GSP.

In the main event, Georges St. Pierre, “GSP”, defended his title successfully against Jon Fitch, who hasn’t lost in several years. GSP looked dominating and easily won his 5 round decision. BJ Penn then got into the cage during GSP’s post fight interview in attempts to promote a GSP/BJ Penn match. Personally, I think BJ should stay where he is and defend his title, as I don’t think he’ll beat GSP.

1 Ben Saunders defeated Ryan Thomas by Submission (Armbar) Round 2 2:28
