Gamerscore Leagues

Week 3 of the Gamerscore League over on x360a has come to a close and Team AMP sits in 6th place with a rather large lead over the last place team, so we should be safe for next week’s elimination. We’ve picked up our two replacements and welcome both of them to the team. They are OLDWIKI TIK and Painkiller4500. Glad to have you guys aboard.

I’ve also started up a second gamerscore league, although this one is more just for fun as the other one runs along. It’s located at Gamerscoreleague.tk. I am the captain of Team 360V, representing 360 Voice with my teammates Slim Pizza Boy, Bomber37, Disbron, and U2MOFO. Looking forward to the next 5 weeks gaming with this guys and hopefully finishing close to the top.

“Not So” Happy Birthday To Me!

Well, today is my 33rd birthday. The past year has been challenging with all of my health issues, so I definitely feel older. I think I’ve aged physically and mentally. Much of my last year has been spent in doctor’s offices and taking different prescriptions to try to solve my issues. It hasn’t been fun, I’ve been stuck working from home and I definitely miss the outside world. The more I think about it, I feel much like a prisoner the past year and can only hope things get better so I’m not saying any of these same things next year.

Sadly, our favorite fish, Token, didn’t survive the tank change. She was the only one of the originals we had remaining from my last birthday and it was definitely a bummer to see her go. I know, I know, just a fish, c’mon now. Well, yes, she was just a fish, but what a personality and gave me something to laugh about almost everyday with some stupid antic or what not.

She was a black moor and over the course of the year, she changed her color from black to orange. I read that they do that to make themselves more attractive when they want to mate. She laid eggs and everything, but unfortunately for her, she was the only black moor in the tank, so they went to waste. A definite character, she’ll be missed in the tank.

Here’s a picture from a few weeks ago, fully orange (and with Gary the snail hot on her heels!)

Fish/Aquarium

So I woke up this morning to a cloudy fish tank and all of my fish with some type of illness. I don’t know that any of them will survive but I am hoping so. I’ve had most of them for over a year now and even though they’re “only fish” I’ve grown attached to their little personalities. Since it seems that something wrecked the filter, the tank is pretty disgusting, so I am going to opt to just replace everything with a brand new setup…new tank, new filter, the works…right now they’re in a separate smaller tank (a hospital tank, I believe it’s referred to as). Going to do the new transfer tonight and hope for the best. I got them as a gift from my wife last year for my birthday and with tomorrow being my birthday, a nice present would be for all of them to survive.

Amanda did a full restart – brand new tank, rocks, etc, etc…unfortunately when we went to change the pad in the filter, we realized it was completely broken and everywhere is closed at this hour, so we won’t be able to pick up a new filter until tomorrow morning.

George Carlin (5/12/37 – 6/22/08)

Filed under: Life — Tags: — domejohnny @ 11:55 pm

George Carlin passed away from heart failure less than six hours ago. This is such terrible news; Carlin is a true comic icon and one of my favorite comedians of all time. I have every album George has ever done and I’ve seen every HBO special he’s ever done – I loved his work. He never disappointed both with hysterical comedy but also the ability to make you think at the same time you were laughing. He will be greatly missed.

RIP George Carlin

Lastly, as he said it best: The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m just not close enough to get the job done.

UFC Fight Night Results

In other news, I was very upset to see Evan Tanner lose last night as I am a big fan. Evan showed heart in the fight and I hope he realizes that he still belongs in the sport and this isn’t the last we see of him. His post fight interview was very depressing and he said he’ll be going to see some doctors to find out why he’s been feeling “so flat” lately. I can only hope they find out what is wrong and hope to see him in the octagon again.

Here’s a great shot of Evan at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV

GSL League Week 2

Filed under: Gaming — Tags: — domejohnny @ 8:00 pm

Tonight ends week 2 of the GSL over on x360a and my team, Team AMP (Achieve More Points), currently sits in 7th of 9th place. 2 more weeks of scoring before the first elimination takes place. We hold a 5000 point lead over 9th place. I managed to score just shy of 4800 points in week 1, but have slowed down this week and will have to really push it this afternoon if I want to try to hit the 2000 mark. Unfortunately we’ve lost 2 of our original team members (x monkfish69 x and andybhoy92) and are currently awaiting replacements for them.

DomeJohnny in the world of WordPress!

Well, here’s another attempt of mine to keep a running blog.  This isn’t the first attempt and it probably won’t be the last.  I’ve tried blogging on MySpace, LiveSpaces and a few other places but I usually give up.  My goal is to keep this one active even if I am the only one that winds up reading it.

Let’s quickly just do a catch up so I have a starting place.  Over the past year, I’ve experienced some injuries and a lot of illness and I’ve spent far too much time (and $$) in doctor’s offices.  I’ve was on disability prior to being granted permission to work from home.  Not being allowed to drive and taking many medications, I’ve been cooped up in the house for far too long.  The majority of my day is spent monitoring emails from work as well as project managing a large Novell to Active Directory computer migration.  It’s a big step for my job but it has been challenging to do from the background.

When I am not spending time on Active Directory reports, there isn’t a great deal for me to do.  I pass time by watching TV/Movies, playing XBox 360 and spending time with my wife.  All things the doctor would probably have me stay away from (well, not the wife part, he never said that!).  If doctors had their way, I’d probably be laying in a dark room all day with as little movement as possible, but that just isn’t me.

While I miss the people I worked with, I still have email & phone contact with some of them.  Many still check to see how I am and others have the “out of sight, out of mind” attitude, but that is to be expected.  I’ve been lucky enough to meet some great people over at 360 Voice, which is a great XBox 360 gaming community. It is unlike any community I’ve ever been a part of. There really aren’t too many internet pissing contests and for the most part, 99% of the community is very cool. I still have lots of friends over on the Spawn.Com message boards, but their are constant fights and arguments and I constantly find myself pissed off at someone (although not unusual for me.)

I’ll cap this rambling off by saying – I spent 30 years in New York, growing up “on” Long Island. I moved with my wife, Amanda, to Las Vegas, Nevada and I’ve been out here more than 2 1/2 years now. At first I hated it and sadly that feeling has never subsided. I left my family and a lot of good people back east and I regret that I am away from them just about everyday of my life. With that said, I’ll sign off on my very first blog on WordPress.
