DomeJohnny in the world of WordPress!

Well, here’s another attempt of mine to keep a running blog.  This isn’t the first attempt and it probably won’t be the last.  I’ve tried blogging on MySpace, LiveSpaces and a few other places but I usually give up.  My goal is to keep this one active even if I am the only one that winds up reading it.

Let’s quickly just do a catch up so I have a starting place.  Over the past year, I’ve experienced some injuries and a lot of illness and I’ve spent far too much time (and $$) in doctor’s offices.  I’ve was on disability prior to being granted permission to work from home.  Not being allowed to drive and taking many medications, I’ve been cooped up in the house for far too long.  The majority of my day is spent monitoring emails from work as well as project managing a large Novell to Active Directory computer migration.  It’s a big step for my job but it has been challenging to do from the background.

When I am not spending time on Active Directory reports, there isn’t a great deal for me to do.  I pass time by watching TV/Movies, playing XBox 360 and spending time with my wife.  All things the doctor would probably have me stay away from (well, not the wife part, he never said that!).  If doctors had their way, I’d probably be laying in a dark room all day with as little movement as possible, but that just isn’t me.

While I miss the people I worked with, I still have email & phone contact with some of them.  Many still check to see how I am and others have the “out of sight, out of mind” attitude, but that is to be expected.  I’ve been lucky enough to meet some great people over at 360 Voice, which is a great XBox 360 gaming community. It is unlike any community I’ve ever been a part of. There really aren’t too many internet pissing contests and for the most part, 99% of the community is very cool. I still have lots of friends over on the Spawn.Com message boards, but their are constant fights and arguments and I constantly find myself pissed off at someone (although not unusual for me.)

I’ll cap this rambling off by saying – I spent 30 years in New York, growing up “on” Long Island. I moved with my wife, Amanda, to Las Vegas, Nevada and I’ve been out here more than 2 1/2 years now. At first I hated it and sadly that feeling has never subsided. I left my family and a lot of good people back east and I regret that I am away from them just about everyday of my life. With that said, I’ll sign off on my very first blog on WordPress.
