Fantasy Football & Summer TV

Today officially kicked off football season for me..well, fantasy football at least.  My first draft began this morning.  It’s a large 32-team league, so we draft separately for the AFC and the NFC.  This league, McFarlane Football League, kicks off Season 2.  My team, The New York Jets, lost in the divisional game last year and then lost the final week in the consolation game, so I came in 4th.  The rules of the league are still in their developing stages and there has been a lot of arguing over the past few weeks.  We’ve increased our keepers from 2 to 4 this coming season, so the draft will be important in building for the future.  This is a rather slow draft because of the size of the league…there is an 8 hour window between picks and I don’t expect to actually pick today.  The first few rounds go slow, but as it progresses, things pick up quite a bit.

As football is upon us, so is the weekend.  I don’t really have any plans, as Vegas is currently experiencing a spell of humidity which makes the summer just dreadful.  105 sucks anyway, but 105 with humidity, forget it.

I am looking forward to two things on television this weekend.  First is the return of reality show, Big Brother, back for it’s 10th season.  I’ve always been addicted to this show and look forward to it’s return.  The other is HBO’s mini-series Generation Kill, which begins Sunday night and follows a battalion of U.S. Marines during the first 40 days of the War in Iraq.
