Tapout – Julie “Jules” Kedzie

The other fighter on last night’s episode of Tapout was Julie “Jules” Kedzie, who became the first female MMA fighter to become sponsored by the Tapout crew. Kedzie was also training out of Greg Jackson’s MMA facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The guys were not there to see Julie, but she caught the eye of Mask, so he, Punkass and Sky Skrape watched her train a bit and Greg Jackson gave her a very high recommendation. The guys quickly took on Julie.

After watching her workout some more, the guys headed out with her to do something “fun” and “girly,” which turned out to be going to a spa/salon. Mask & Sky Skrape didn’t hesitate to jump in and join her in a pedicure, but Punkass was very against it and he sat back and shook his head and mainly picked on Skrape, who wound up with rhinestones and a flower painted on his big toe.

On the way to Colorado for Battle Quest 8*, the guys learned of Julie’s nervousness while driving. Of course, it didn’t help with Punkass flying down the road in an ice storm. She joined him up front and he talked her ear off (very unlike Punkass) about how he and Mask came to know one another, how they went to Gracie’s to train after seeing UFC and how they started Tapout. The guys couldn’t believe how much he was talking and got a big kick out of it.

At weigh-in, Kedzie was a bit over, but she was able to make weight with the given time to do so. Her opponent, Angela Hayes, made weight, so all was good to go. The fight was fairly quick as it went to the ground, Kedzie was able to gain mount and start reigning down punches and quickly wrapped up Hayes in an armbar for a submission win.

Tapout – John “The Magician” Dodson

Last night’s episode of Tapout, had the crew, Punkass, Sky Skrape and Mask head to Albuquerque, New Mexico to Greg Jackson’s MMA facility. The guys were there to see John “The Magician” Dodson. Dodson is very small and acrobatic and fights at 135 lbs, even though he should naturally fight about 10 lbs lighter.

After some rock climbing with Dodson, the guys traveled to Colorado for Battle Quest 8*. Dodson made weight as did his opponent, Vern Baca. Dodson looked impressive in round 1 and shortly into round 2 slammed his opponent causing him to land on his head and neck…while the fight probably should have been stopped at that point, Dodson added a few punches for good measure winning by TKO.
