This week’s episode saw the Tapout crew travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to check out Travis “T-Train” Marx, a student of Jeremy Horn at Elite Performance Gym.
Marx is a highway patrol trooper as well as a member of S.W.A.T. The guys watching him do a little boxing training and then the following evening a little ground training. There was some concern that with an upcoming fight, Jeremy Horn was not around. They went to Marx’s home and met his wife and two sons. He took Punkass, Skyskrape, and Mask to a S.W.A.T. training facility where they got take part in a room breach, as the bad guys. Skrape also allowed himself to be shot with a taser in the back. They also did some dirt bike and quad racing and Mask & Skrape allowed themselves to be jumped by bikes by laying in front of the hill. Jeremy Horn finally returned for a strategy session prior to the fight, but it was obvious the group was concerned with his lack of involvement.
After some motorcycle riding, the guys went to weigh-in, then headed to the fight the following day. The event was EFN Elite Fight Night on May 17, 2008. However, because Horn helps run the event, he is not allowed to corner any of his men. By the time it was time for Marx to fight, Horn’s team was 0-6 for the night. Perhaps a sign that their coach needs to be around for them a little bit more. Marx’s opponent was Steve Siler, who locked on a triangle choke in Round 2 to take the victory. It was Marx’s first loss.
I think the funniest part of the show for me was the beginning where the bus gets pulled over in Salt Lake City, not knowingly by Trooper Marx and they were all ordered off the bus. Mask’s comment of “I’m thinking when we all get off the bus and take one look at all of Punkass’s tattoos, we’re screwed” made me laugh so hard because Punkass’s tattoos are going to be the least of their problem when they take one looked at Mask’s painted face or Skrape’s wig and crazy outfit. I don’t know, it just made me laugh.
*Note: EFN Elite Fight Night took place on May 17, 2008. Travis Marx has not fought in a bout since.
